E bay has been the largest and most well known online buying and shopping website and community now for a long, long time. The initial concept was great. It was definitely an innovative, well thought out idea. In the beginning E bay catered to their customers’ needs and seemed to have run a sound business operation. Then as the profits started to stream in and the company became larger and larger, and ever more corporate, things started to go downhill fast. The only way that E bay is surviving today is because of their name. E bay is to the online shopping world what Michael Jordan is to the basketball world. It is, without a doubt, a household name.
The problem is that E bay doesn’t take care of the customers that built it into what it has become today. The people that built E bay are now being charged unbelievable fees and prices that are extremely hard to deal with in an online world that is hard to make a living on. I’ll give you just a small example. If you are selling an item that you need to take a descent amount of pictures for your listing, I promise you that right now on E bay you will be over the $5.00 mark very, very quickly. And the idea of taking a cut out of the profit that you made on your item is ridiculous!
What people don’t realize is that there are many great alternatives out there. They definitely still have a corner on that market. But only until they pull the old E bay tactics of getting too greedy and then they too will fall to a competitor who cares about their users and customers and has a more sound business plan that does not include forgetting who got you where you are today.
So for all you E buyers out there who are spending way too much of your own money and profits for a company who cares nothing about you except how much you help them hit their quarterly numbers, there are alternatives. This country would be in a lot better position right now if people stopped accepting things and actually stood up and took a stand.
