Articles posted to ezines should NOT be a sales pitch on your primary business or anything else. You should not try to explain the benefits of a product or service you offer and why someone should buy from you.
You should post articles that provide good information that is useful to readers. Only write about things that you would consider yourself an expert in, or about your hobbies and interests and unique experiences.
As a teacher, coach, and mentor, I have learned that most people learn best from real life examples. Let me give you a real life example. Let’s say a man from Alaska named Mike is wondering about what he should write about. Let’s also assume that he has a home business that he wants to promote by directing traffic to his website using article submissions.
The following are good examples of effective article topics for Mike from Alaska…
Alaska in the Summertime: 5 Reasons You Need to Visit
Fishing in Alaska: Simple Rules to Keep you Out of Trouble and Enhance Your Experience
Alaska: 7 Tips For a Better Experience
Alaska: What’s it Really Like to Live in Alaska 12 Months a Year
Oil Rigs in Alaska: The Life of Oil Rigger
Other hobbies and interests
So you see that the examples above have nothing to do with Mike’s primary business that he is trying to market. What the articles above would accomplish is that they would establish credibility for Mike and have his links start showing up on Google, Yahoo, and other search engines. When people click on his links, it will take them to his articles.
The idea behind this is that people will like what he has to say. They will like him. They will think that he is an interesting person with uniqueness. At the end of the articles will be a place for the “Author Resource Box.” This is where he can sell people on why they should click on the link to his primary business.
If you are not sure what to put in your “Author Resource Box,” here is an example of what Mike could possibly put in his “Author Resource Box.”
Mike is a native of Alaska. He loves the fact that he can make great money working in the frozen tundra in the winter, and then have the entire summer off in the most breathtaking, wild, and exciting land on earth. Mike enjoys fishing, spending time with friends, etc. Mike is new to internet marketing and is very excited with the new income he is receiving. He also likes the idea that if his business continues to grow, he might soon have all the enjoyment of Alaska without having to work out on the frozen tundra during the winter months. This should give you the basic idea behind how this works. Understand that most prospects will only want to do business with people that they know, like and trust. If they get to know YOU by reading about your personal experiences, they might then be interested in seeing what it is that you do for business. They can then click on your business link and see that you have a great opportunity for them.
Good Luck!
